Jones shares that only 16% of the Utah legislature is women. If you can believe it, this is actually worse than where Utah was 10 years ago. Back then, Utah was in alignment with the national average when it came to women in office. So why the backsliding?
One answer might be that the current delegate system in Utah is primarily dominated by the male gender. The other explanation would be from a powerful resurfacing of ultra conservative political views. Whatever the exact reason is, it needs to be figured out as women truly are and must be treated as an equal...especially in Utah!
